NVIDIA ships driver 616.64 WHQL with DLSS 5
NVIDIA released Game Ready Driver 616.64 WHQL on September 3, 2026, for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11, replacing the 616.56 driver from August.
What's new
The headline addition is Game Ready support for NBA 2K27, which debuts DLSS 5 with 3D-guided neural rendering — a technique that combines information from the game engine itself with a neural model to modify lighting and materials in real time, used in NBA 2K27 for effects like skin subsurface scattering, contact shadows, facial-hair lighting, and ambient occlusion.
For now, DLSS 5 is limited to the GeForce RTX 50 series — it isn't available on, and hasn't been announced for, earlier RTX generations.
The driver also adds support for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, with compatibility for DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, Multi Frame Generation, DLAA, Reflex, and ray-traced reflections on compatible RTX systems.
What to know before updating
Users who installed the August 616.56 driver reported an intermittent flickering and darkening issue in browsers. According to NVIDIA, a fix was planned for this 616.64 release, but the driver team didn't have time to include it given the DLSS 5 launch schedule — anyone who hit that issue should confirm whether it's still present rather than assuming this update resolved it.
